about

Reading: Reorganization of Space is an art installation by artists Quincy Owens & Luke Crawley, comprised of cardboard geometric sculptures and sound art piece that will together represent the community of people whom have lived in Reading, Pennsylvania. The artists visited the city to record the stories of the people, the sounds of the city and surrounding areas as a way of understanding the past and present by linking shared societal experiences, beliefs, emotions, etc... The exhibition is comprised of large abstract forms constructed of cardboard- a common, everyday object. These forms conceptually represent humans as members of a larger audience who share, observe, and participate in the experiences emanating from the center and will suggest a moment of stasis or stillness as this community shifts from past to future. The sound piece fills the environment with the voices and sounds of Reading, connecting the community to the installation, each other, and our broader human story.
